It is dropped into a pre-drilled hole and expanded with a setting tool, and a bolt or threaded rod is then screwed into it.

Choosing the right option

The bolt or threaded rod that screws in must match the thread size of the anchor, and the anchor size has to suit the job.

The yellow on these drop-in anchors is a passivate (chromate conversion) layer on electroplated zinc. It is a finish colour, and no extra service life is claimed for it, so treat it as an indoor or sheltered finish that is generally not recommended outdoors and not suitable for treated pine. For outdoor or weather-exposed work, choose a hot dip galvanised option; near the coast or in splash zones, 316 stainless is generally the better choice.

Set the anchor with the matching setting tool in a drilled hole in concrete, then fit the bolt or rod.
