Hobson SCSOPCM030006 M3 x 6mm Metric Flat Head Socket Screw, Grade 12.9, Plain

The Hobson metric flat head socket screw on this page has a metric thread and is alloy steel, plain finish, grade 12.9. This page lists 113 items: M3 to M24, in lengths from 6mm to 180mm.

The Hobson acronym list names this head style: FHCS, Flat Head (Countersunk) Cap Screw (manufacturer-stated).

The head is tapered so that it sits flush in a countersunk hole.

The supplier names this item G12.9. The Hobson guide lists class 12.9 as alloy steel, quenched and tempered, for metric sizes M6 to M48 (the guide says class where the supplier says grade) (manufacturer-stated).

Strength figures are shown for sizes M6 and above only; the Hobson table does not cover the smaller sizes, so none is published for them.

The pitch shown for each size is the coarse pitch given in the Hobson thread table (manufacturer-stated).

Pack quantity is shown for each item in the table. It changes with the size and length.

The supplier file does not give the socket (key) size, head dimensions or thread length for these screws, so none are published. Check the key size against a screw in hand.

Selecting the right option

Choose the thread form first: the screw must match its nut or tapped hole in thread form, diameter and pitch. Metric sizes are the nominal diameter in millimetres; compare the pitch in the table with your thread. By convention the length of a flat head (countersunk) screw is the overall length including the head; the supplier file does not state the measuring point. Check the key size against the screw in hand, as the supplier file does not state it. For a different class or finish see the related pages.
