Hobson Metric Stud Anchor, M16 / 125mm

This is the Hobson metric stud anchor (mild steel, zinc yellow finish and grade 4.6 designation). The range has 7 items: M16 and M20 in 105 to 200mm lengths. A through bolt anchor is fitted through the fixture into a pre-drilled hole and tightened to expand in the hole.

Choosing the right option

Choose the size and length together to suit the fixture and the base material.

Yellow zinc is zinc plating with a yellow passivate over it, a chromate conversion layer that gives the colour. Underneath it is electroplated zinc, so the same limits apply: dry, indoor and sheltered use, and not suitable for treated pine. For outdoor or weather-exposed work, choose a hot dip galvanised option; near the coast or in splash zones, 316 stainless is generally the better choice.

Class 4.6 is the general-purpose mild steel class, used where a joint does not need a high tensile fastener. For load-critical, structural or lifting joints, confirm the fastener against the engineer's specification. Fasteners are not lifting rated unless marked.
