MSA MSAD10 10mm Rare Earth Pot Magnet, D Series Female Threaded Boss, 2.2kg Attraction
Available
The MSA D Series is a range of rare earth pot magnets with a female threaded boss. This page lists 10 sizes, from 10mm to 75mm in diameter, with attraction from 2.2kg to 164kg (manufacturer-stated).
A pot magnet is a magnet set in a steel shell, so that it holds on its open flat face. The catalogue lists the range as neodymium magnets (manufacturer-stated).
The D Series has a female threaded boss, so a stud or bolt screws into the magnet to carry a fixture or bracket. The catalogue lists the thread size (M3 to M10), the overall height (D2) and the shell height (H) for each size.
The catalogue letters are used in the table: D is the magnet diameter and H the shell height. The catalogue drawing marks the thread as M and the overall height; the table prints them as D1 and D2.
The catalogue prints attraction in kilograms and dead weight in grams for every size. It does not state the test conditions for the attraction figure, so treat it as the maker's figure (manufacturer-stated) and test on your own steel.

Selecting the right option
Choose the size on the attraction figure and the space you have: attraction rises with diameter, from 2.2kg at 10mm to 164kg at 75mm (manufacturer-stated). Match the thread size (M) to your stud or bolt, and check the overall height (D2) against the space you have. Holding force falls on thin, rough, painted or curved steel and the catalogue figure makes no allowance for that, so keep a margin and test on your own steel. The catalogue gives attraction, not a safe working load: do not use a pot magnet to lift or suspend a load where a fall could cause injury. Rare earth magnets are strong and brittle: handle them with care, keep them clear of pacemakers and electronic media, and do not let two magnets snap together.
