Selecting the right option

More flutes improve surface finish and rigidity but reduce chip clearance — 4 flutes for steel and ferrous metals, 2–3 flutes for aluminium and non-ferrous where chip evacuation matters. Match the length series to the minimum overhang needed — shorter = stiffer = better finish and tool life. Choose standard HSS for mild steel and aluminium; cobalt or TiAlN-coated for harder materials.
