The Sutton D505 SupaStep step drill is a spiral flute HSS step drill with a Futura Nano (TiAlN) coating and a 1/4" hex shank. It is supplied in 5 sizes: 4-12mm (5 steps), 4-12mm (9 steps), 4-20mm (9 steps), 4-25mm (11 steps) and 4-30mm (14 steps). The drills cut sheet metal, aluminium, plastic and fibre glass without pre-drilling, and the next step deburrs the hole as it is drilled.
The spiral flute is optimised for use with impact drivers: the wide flute is designed to remove chips efficiently and to increase speed. The Futura Nano (TiAlN) coating is designed for wear resistance, and the reinforced shank is designed to reduce the likelihood of breakage. The 1/4" hex shank suits impact drivers and drills.

Using the step drills
- Use the drill in an impact driver or a drill, using the 1/4" hex shank.
- Drill sheet material without pre-drilling: each step deburrs the hole made by the previous step.
- Keep the material thickness within the 4 mm maximum cut depth.
