Sutton M4010800 M8 x 1.25 Metric Coarse Button Die 1-1/2" OD - Carbon Alloy Steel

The Sutton M401 is a carbon alloy steel button die for cutting a new male (external) metric coarse thread on studs. It is a solid round die, 1-1/2" (38.1 mm) OD, in 4 sizes, M8 to M14, that fits into an adjustable guide or plain die stock handle.

Made from carbon alloy steel. Carbon alloy steel threading tools are not suitable for precision, safety or critical threads: they are for general purpose and DIY use only. The cutting teeth provide a general purpose thread. Applications include DIY, trade, automotive, plumbing, metalworking and MRO work.

Using the button die

• Use a guide or die stock that matches the 1-1/2" OD of the die.
• Chamfer the end of the stud or rod and start the die square, turning forward and backing off regularly to break the chip.
• Use a cutting fluid suited to the material being threaded.
• Use for general purpose and DIY threads only.
