The Sutton T702 is a spiral point (gun) tap (N designation) for UNF threads, made from powder metallurgy, vanadium grade high speed steel (PM-HSSE V3) with a blue steam-oxide finish. This listing covers 14 sizes from #2 x 64 TPI to 1 x 12 TPI.
The gun (spiral point) nose curls the chip forward, ahead of the tap and out of the hole, so chip clogging is avoided and coolant can flow without problems. It suits through holes. The N designation is for normal, general purpose materials, with a normal rake angle and normal thread relief. The chamfer is Form B (4.5 x P), for through holes in medium and long chipping materials.
The thread tolerance is 2B. The tap is built to DIN 2184-1.

Design features
- Powder metallurgy, vanadium grade high speed steel (PM-HSSE V3). The very fine and uniform grain structure allows high hardness while keeping good toughness, for materials up to 40 HRC and difficult-to-machine materials such as stainless steels.
- Blue steam-oxide finish for ferrous metals; it helps prevent chip build-up on the cutting edges and carries lubricant well.
- 2 to 4 flutes, depending on size.
- Form B chamfer, 4.5 x P.
- Thread tolerance 2B.
- The N designation is for normal, general purpose materials, with a normal rake angle and normal thread relief.
