SE11 Elastomeric Tensioner Arm, 35 mm OD, M6 Bolt
Available
The SE series is an elastomeric tensioner arm for chain and belt drives. The arm carries an idler sprocket or a belt roller and keeps the drive under steady tension as the chain or belt stretches. It is made in six sizes, SE11 to SE45.
The arm mounts with a single nut and can rotate through 360 degrees. It is pre-tensioned by rotating the arm up to 30 degrees. As the chain or belt stretches, the elastomeric elements take up the slack.
Where this product is used
- Roller chain drives that need automatic take-up as the chain stretches
- Belt drives that need steady belt tension
- Machinery, conveyor and agricultural drives
- Drives where vibration and shock loads act on the chain or belt
Features
- Single-nut mounting with 360 degree rotation
- Pre-tension up to 30 degrees, with 20 degrees listed as the optimum angle
- Elastomeric elements absorb vibration and shock loading
- No metal-on-metal parts, so no lubrication is needed
- Operating temperature range -40 °C to +80 °C
- Two holes in the arm give a normal and a hard setting, and the hard setting gives approximately 25% more force
- Six sizes, SE11 to SE45, with idler sprockets listed for SE15 to SE45 and belt rollers listed for SE11 to SE45

Chain numbers are ASA chain numbers with the number of strands, for example 35-1-2-3 covers simplex, duplex and triplex. The optimum pre-tension angle is 20 degrees and the maximum is 30 degrees. At 20 degrees the arm can absorb vibration and shock loads and still has arc movement to take up chain or belt stretch.

Force is the arm force at each pre-tension angle, for the normal and the hard arm hole. The hard hole gives approximately 25% more force. Figures are converted from the catalogue values and rounded to the nearest 5 N.
Selecting the right option
Select the arm from the chain or belt size in the table above, then choose the idler sprocket or belt roller that matches the arm size. Contact AIMS if the drive loads are not clear, as the arm force depends on the pre-tension angle and on which arm hole is used.
Fitting and use
Mount the arm with the single nut and pre-tension it by rotating the arm. The optimum angle is 20 degrees and the maximum is 30 degrees. Use the second hole in the arm for the hard setting.
Fit the idler sprocket or belt roller to the arm and keep it in line with the chain or belt. Check the arm position as the chain or belt stretches.
Catalogue dimensions are reference only. Contact AIMS to confirm actual measurement if a specific dimension is critical to your application.
