Where this product is used

• General-purpose soft-faced hammer in automotive and general engineering for assembly, repair and maintenance (manufacturer-stated).

• Striking machined sub components and assemblies, where Thor says the copper faces prevent damage (manufacturer-stated).

• Malleable iron head with cylindrical copper faces at both ends (manufacturer-stated)
• Iron head and copper faces together supply the weight of the blow; the copper faces prevent damage to expensive machined sub components and assemblies (manufacturer-stated)

Safety note

Thor warns that its soft-faced hammers should never, for example, be used as a non-sparking tool in hazardous areas (manufacturer-stated, Thor Product Range 2017). Do not treat a copper face as making this hammer suitable for hazardous areas.

Key specifications

Selecting the right option

This is the 38 mm copper-faced hammer with a plastic handle; TH312 gives the same faces on a wood handle at 1260 g and 305 mm. Copper faces wear and can be replaced. The spare face for this size is TH312C, which the 2022 brochure lists as suiting TH312, so confirm the fit for this plastic-handle model.
