This Koyo single direction thrust ball bearing (51100 series) is made of washer-shaped rings with a raceway groove, plus a ball and cage assembly. It accommodates axial load in one direction. The shaft race mounts on the shaft and the housing race in the housing. The back faces are flat.
The range has 13 sizes, with bores from 10 to 110 mm, boundary dimensions to JIS B 1512 and tolerances to JIS B 1514-2. Koyo bearings are made by JTEKT Corporation.

Selecting the right option
Select by bore d first, then check the outside diameter D and height T in the table against your housing.
Thrust ball bearings carry axial load only. Neither the single nor the double direction type is suitable for applications that involve radial load or high-speed rotation. Compare the limiting speed for your size with the shaft speed.
A certain degree of axial load is needed for the bearing to operate satisfactorily. At high speed, centrifugal force and the gyro moment can make the balls slide on the raceways and damage them, so the bearing is mounted without clearance with an axial load above the minimum necessary.
A bearing with flat back faces does not allow misalignment. If mounting errors are likely, JTEKT also makes a type with a spherical back face.
Fitting and use
Make sure the bearing races sit square to their supports and that the supporting surface is wide enough.
The shaft shoulder diameter da should be larger than the pitch diameter of the ball set, and the housing shoulder diameter Da smaller than it. The da min and Da max values for each size are in the variant specification.
