Unasco is an Australian manufacturer of thread sealing and pipe jointing products, producing PTFE thread seal tape, anti-seize tape, and anaerobic thread sealant compounds for use in plumbing, gas, hydraulic, and industrial pipe fitting applications. Unasco anaerobic thread sealant compounds cure in the absence of air to form a rigid, pressure-resistant seal in threaded pipe and fitting connections. Unlike tape, liquid sealant fills the complete thread form and cures to a defined hardness, providing leak-free performance under vibration and pressure cycling that can cause tape to work loose. Gland packing provides sealing around rotating or reciprocating valve stems and pump shafts where dynamic sealing is required.

Selecting the right option

Select anaerobic thread sealant by the cure hardness and disassembly requirement — medium-strength sealant allows disassembly with hand tools; high-strength sealant is effectively permanent and requires heat or specialist tools to disassemble. Gland packing is selected by cross-section size and material to match the valve stem or pump shaft diameter and the service fluid and temperature. Unasco thread sealants are suited to BSP, NPT, and metric parallel threads.
