1" UNC Nylon Insert Lock Nut, 316 Stainless Steel - XNNA41UNC
Available
Made in 316 (A4) stainless steel, the UNC Hex Nylon Insert Lock Nut is a hex nut with a nylon ring set into the top. The nylon grips the bolt thread and resists loosening from vibration.
You can choose from 9 variants, covering sizes 10-24 to 1". Pack quantities depend on size: packs of 25 to 100.
Supplied in 316 (A4) stainless steel. The molybdenum in A4 gives better resistance to chlorides than A2 (304), so it is the usual choice near the coast, around pools and in marine and food-processing environments. UNC (Unified National Coarse) is the coarse inch-based thread. Small sizes are given as a number and threads per inch, such as 8-32 or 10-24, and larger sizes as fractions of an inch.
Austenitic stainless steel is generally non-magnetic, although cold-worked parts can show weak magnetism. In wet conditions, keep stainless steel apart from aluminium and galvanised steel with a washer or sleeve, to reduce the risk of galvanic corrosion.

Selecting the right option
The nylon ring limits the working temperature of the nut, so check the supplier data before using it near heat. A nylon insert nut is normally treated as single-use where a tight lock is needed. The bolt must pass fully through the nylon ring. Use a stainless flat washer. For indoor and general outdoor use where chlorides are not a concern, the A2 (304) version is the lower-cost option: UNC Hex Nylon Insert Lock Nut - 304 Stainless Steel.
