Beaver G2070 6 x 25 Wire Rope, Wire Core, 11 mm, 1,000 m Reel (712411)
Available
Beaver 6 x 25 G2070 wire rope is galvanised steel wire rope with six strands of 25 wires and a wire core, in right hand ordinary lay (RHOL). This listing is the 11 mm rope on a 1,000 m reel (code 712411). Beaver's manual also lists a 16 mm rope on a 500 m reel (code 712416-500).
Beaver's manual lists this 6 x 25 G2070 rope under the heading "Tirfor rope". Tirfor is a make of wire rope puller, so check the rope diameter, construction and grade against the machine maker's specification before ordering. Beaver says a wire rope core is approximately 7.5% stronger and 11% heavier than a fibre core.
Where this product is used
- Towing and lifting applications, as Beaver describes its wire rope range (manufacturer-stated)
- Use with wire rope pullers: Beaver's manual lists this rope as "Tirfor rope" (manufacturer-stated). Confirm it matches the machine maker's rope specification
Features
- Construction 6 x 25 with a wire core, right hand ordinary lay (RHOL) (manufacturer-stated)
- Grade 2070 galvanised wire (manufacturer-stated)
- Listed in Beaver's manual under the heading "Tirfor rope" (manufacturer-stated)
- Minimum breaking force 89 kN (manufacturer-stated)
- Diameter, MBF, mass per 100 m and reel length listed by Beaver (manufacturer-stated)
Reading the specifications
- Nominal diameter: Beaver says this is measured at the widest point of the rope (over the crowns). Choose thimbles, ferrules, grips and sheaves for the rope diameter.
- Construction: six strands of 25 wires each with a wire core (6 x 25).
- Grade: the tensile grade of the wires in megapascals (MPa). Beaver says a higher grade gives a higher minimum breaking strength but also influences the life of the rope.
- Lay (RHOL): right hand ordinary lay, with the strands laid to the right and the wires in each strand to the left.
- MBF: minimum breaking force in kN, as listed by Beaver. This is not a working load limit.
- Approx. mass: kilograms per 100 m of rope, as listed by Beaver.
Breaking force and working load
MBF is the minimum breaking force Beaver lists for the rope, in kilonewtons (kN). It is not a working load limit. Beaver does not publish a working load limit for loose wire rope, and the load a rope can safely carry depends on how it is terminated and rigged and on the safety factor your application needs. If the rope will be used for lifting, have a qualified rigger or competent person confirm the rope, the terminations and the working load limit before you order, and inspect the rope before each use. Beaver's manual has a working load limit table for standard galvanised slings made from grade 1770 steel core rope, with AS 1666.1 and AS 1666.2 cited in the table heading (manufacturer-stated). That table is for slings and does not cover the rope on this page.
Key specifications
| Code | Wire dia (mm) | MBF (kN) | Approx. mass (kg/100 m) | Reel (m) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 712411 | 11 | 89 | 50.9 | 1,000 |
Codes, diameters, breaking forces, masses and reel lengths are from Beaver's Materials Handling Technical Manual (Vol. 4) and the Beaver website. MBF is the minimum breaking force, not a working load limit.
Selecting the right option
Choose the diameter and construction for your application, then check the breaking force against the safety factor you need. Match thimbles, ferrules, grips and sheaves to the rope diameter.
