CRC Aerosol Lectra Clean Electric Motor & Equipment Cleaner 400g

CRC Lectra Clean, named CRC NF Lectra Clean by CRC, is a non-flammable evaporating cleaner and degreaser for use on electric motors. It has no flash point, evaporates rapidly and completely, and leaves no residue.

CRC lists it for electrical equipment, parts and components, mechanical tools and components, marine and industrial engines, and laboratory equipment. The SDS lists chlorinated solvents in the composition and classifies the product as suspected of causing cancer.

Using it

Remove access plates to expose the equipment interior. For heavy deposits, remove them by scraping first.

Spray liberally and allow the product to run off. Air dry or dry with a soft wiper, and repeat if necessary.

Test on a small area before using: it may be harmful to some plastics.

Storage and handling

Store in a cool, dry, well ventilated area, away from incompatible substances, heat, ignition sources and foodstuffs. Protect from sunlight and do not expose to temperatures above 50 °C. Store locked up.

Limits and safety

SDS classification: Warning. Pressurised aerosol, Category 3 (H229), causes skin irritation (H315), causes serious eye irritation (H319), suspected of causing cancer (H351), toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects (H411). UN 1950, Class 2.2. The SDS also lists it as a marine pollutant and as Schedule 6 (S6) under the SUSMP poisons standard, says it will attack most forms of plastics, and states that tetrachloroethylene and dichloromethane are classified as probably carcinogenic to humans (IARC Group 2A).
