CRC Syntha-Tech Lubricant With PTFE 312g Aerosol

CRC Syntha-Tech is a synthetic lubricant with a PTFE additive, anti-wear additives and extreme pressure additives, supplied as a 312g aerosol. CRC states it is NSF H1 registered for incidental food contact, and NSF registered for use in meat and poultry facilities.

CRC gives an effective temperature range of -40 °C to +230 °C, and lists test data including a Falex load of 1,000 lbs and a four ball wear scar of 0.39 mm. It lists bearings, gears, chains, conveyors and food processing equipment among its uses.

Selecting the right option

For a plain food grade machine oil see CRC Food Grade Machine Oil 312g. For a dry film lubricant see CRC Dry Moly Lube 3084 - 312g, which is not food grade.

Using it

Do not apply while equipment is energised.

Shake well. Spray an even coat so the product coats all moving parts. CRC says to reapply after the first coat has penetrated, and repeat as necessary.

CRC says it is safe on most plastics, and to test a small area first.

Storage and handling

CRC gives a conditional warranty of 5 years from date of manufacture. Keep the can away from heat and do not expose it to temperatures above 50 °C.

Limits and safety

SDS classification: signal word Warning. Pressurised container: may burst if heated (H229). The SDS flammability line reads combustible, and the aerosol is transport class UN 1950, Aerosols, Class 2.2. The 70 °C flash point is for the liquid component. Keep away from heat and ignition sources. Do not apply while equipment is energised. If used as an anti-rust film, NSF requires the compound to be removed by washing or wiping. Read the safety data sheet before use.
