Dixon DDTM Roll Grooved Diameter Tape
Available
This Dixon diameter tape, part number DDTM, carries roll grooved dimensions, so it can be used to check the groove depth of grooved pipe as well as the outside diameter of pipe and hose (manufacturer-stated).
Dixon points out that an accurate groove depth is critical to the performance of any grooved piping system (manufacturer-stated). The tape is read where its "0" mark lines up, and the result is compared with the tolerance band for the pipe size.
Where this product is used
- Checking roll grooved pipe: the tape sits flat on the base of the groove, around the whole circumference (manufacturer-stated).
- Measuring the diameter of pipe or hose by wrapping the tape around it (manufacturer-stated).
Features
- Diameter tape with roll grooved dimensions (manufacturer-stated)
- Groove depth markings: the "0" origin falls inside the tolerance band when the groove is within specification (manufacturer-stated)
- Example from Dixon: on 2" roll grooved pipe the origin 0 should fall between 56.77 mm and 57.15 mm (manufacturer-stated)

Selecting the right option
To check a groove, place the tape around the pipe so it sits flat on the base of the groove all the way round, then read the point that lines up with 0. If 0 falls outside the tolerance band for that pipe size, the groove is outside specification (manufacturer-stated). Dixon's catalogue gives no tape length or scale details for DDTM.
