L050 Jaw Coupling Spider Element, Nitrile Rubber

Nitrile rubber (NBR) spider elements for jaw couplings, in sizes L050 to L276. The jaw coupling is used across a large range of industries. It is highly resilient, it needs no lubrication, and it works in environments contaminated with oil, dirt, sand, moisture and grease. The rubber element sits between the jaws of the two hubs and absorbs shock loading, so there is no metal-to-metal contact.

The spider is the replaceable element between the jaws of the two hubs, and it is the part that wears. Each listing is one spider. Match the spider size to the hub size, for example an L095 spider in L095 hubs.

Selecting and fitting

Choose the spider by hub size, then by material. The catalogue lists nitrile rubber, polyurethane and Hytrel spiders, and the sizes that each is stocked in. Spiders of the same size fit the same hubs, so the material can be changed at a service.

Isolate the drive before working on the coupling, and replace a cracked or worn spider before the jaws can touch. Align the two shafts as closely as you can before fitting the coupling, and check the alignment again once the coupling is fitted. Good alignment gives the longest life, whatever the coupling type.
