Loctite 410 is a black, rubber-toughened ethyl cyanoacrylate instant adhesive. It is a one-part, high viscosity liquid that cures with atmospheric moisture and needs no mixing.

Henkel describes it as having increased flexibility and peel strength, along with enhanced resistance to shock. It bonds metals, plastics and rubbers, and it suits thin bond gaps.

Selecting the right option

Loctite 410 is the black, high viscosity toughened grade. For a clear to straw-coloured toughened grade, see Loctite 435 Toughened Instant Adhesive 25ml; for a black grade, see Loctite 480 Black Toughened Instant Adhesive 20g.

Using it

Henkel states the product suits thin bond gaps (0.05 mm). Increasing the bond gap decreases the rate of cure.

Fixture times in the Henkel data sheet are the time to 0.1 N/mm² shear at 22 °C and 50% RH, and vary widely by substrate: degreased steel takes 60 to 120 seconds, aluminium 10 to 30 seconds.

Full chemical and solvent resistance takes at least 24 hours.

Storage and handling

Store unopened, in a dry place, at 2 °C to 8 °C. Storage outside this range can affect the properties of the product.

Limits and safety

Not recommended for pure oxygen or oxygen-rich systems, or as a sealant for chlorine or other strong oxidising materials. The Henkel data sheet states no operating temperature range; the hot strength graph runs from 0 °C to 120 °C. Read the safety data sheet before use.
