Spiral length, shank and maximum speed are the manufacturer's No.4 table figures for each size (manufacturer-stated). Spiral length and shank are not shown for STM4S025 because the available figures for that size differ.
Selecting the right option
Choose by hole diameter first. The 10 and 11 mm bits are 250 mm long with a 7 mm shank; 13 to 19 mm bits have a 10 mm shank; 22, 25 and 29 mm bits are 330 mm long and need the slower speed limit of 1,500 rpm (manufacturer-stated). If the timber is thin and you do not need the reach, the 6 Series short-length auger drill bits are shorter; for hardwood see the 8M Series medium-length hardwood auger drill bits or 8L Series long hardwood auger drill bits, and for holes deeper than 240 mm see the 4L Series extended-length auger drill bits.
