The Sutton T458 is a spiral point (gun) tap (intermediate chamfer) for BSW threads, made from premium grade high speed steel (HSSE) with a blue steam-oxide finish. This listing covers 12 sizes from 1/8 x 40 TPI to 1 x 8 TPI.
The gun (spiral point) nose curls the chip forward, ahead of the tap and out of the hole, so chip clogging is avoided and coolant can flow without problems. It suits through holes. The tap has a intermediate chamfer (Form D, 3.5 to 5 threads on the lead), generally for through holes.
The thread tolerance is Z3 Medium. The tap is built to ISO 529: short machine tap construction.

Design features
