Link Chains — Galvanised, Stainless Steel & Lifting Chain
Link chains are a fundamental industrial and hardware product used for load restraint, lifting, towing, barrier systems, and general securing applications. AIMS Industrial sells link chain from Austlift, Beaver, and Inox World — covering galvanised hardware chain, Grade 70 transport chain, Grade 80 and Grade 100 alloy lifting chain, and 304 and 316 stainless steel chain for marine and food-grade applications.
Link Chains We Stock
G70 Transport Chain
Grade 70 (G70) transport chain is a high-strength carbon steel chain used for load restraint and tie-down applications on trucks, trailers, and machinery transport. G70 chain is not rated for overhead lifting — it is a lashing and restraint chain. We stock the Austlift G70 Transport Chain Kit With Grab Hook, Austlift G70 Transport Chain (cut length per metre), and Beaver Grade 70 Transport Load Chain Kit With Grab Hooks for heavy-vehicle load restraint.
G80 Alloy Steel Lifting Chain
Grade 80 (G80) alloy steel chain is the standard for overhead lifting and chain sling assemblies in Australia. G80 chain is marked and individually proof-tested to AS 3775. We stock Austlift G80 Chain Links (black, cut length per metre) and Austlift G80 Chain Links (yellow, cut length per metre) in standard diameters for custom chain sling fabrication.
G100 Alloy Steel Lifting Chain
Grade 100 (G100) alloy steel chain provides a higher working load limit than G80 for the same chain diameter — enabling lighter, more compact sling assemblies at equivalent WLL. We stock Austlift G100 Chain Links (cut length per metre) for high-capacity sling fabrication where weight and space are critical considerations.
Galvanised Hardware Chain
Galvanised regular-link and short-link hardware chain is used for general securing, barrier, gate, and non-lifting applications. Available in bulk lengths and selected sizes. We stock Austlift Regular Chain Link Galvanised (50kg), Beaver Hardware Chain Regular Link Galvanised — Bulk (3mm to 13mm), and Beaver Trailer Safety Chain Galvanised for a wide range of general hardware applications.
Stainless Steel Chain
Stainless steel link chain resists corrosion in marine, food processing, and chemical environments where galvanised or alloy steel chain would corrode. Available in 304 and 316 stainless steel. We stock Austlift G316 Regular Link Chain Stainless Steel, Austlift G304 Regular Link Chain Stainless Steel, Inox World Short Link Chain — 304 Stainless Steel, Inox World Short Link Chain — 316 Stainless Steel, and Inox World Medium Link Chain — 316 Stainless Steel for corrosion-critical applications.
Chain Selection Guide
Grade vs Application
G70 chain is for load restraint only — not lifting. G80 and G100 are marked lifting chains for overhead use and must comply with AS 3775. Hardware chain (galvanised or stainless) is for general securing and barrier applications — not overhead lifting. Always match the chain grade to the intended application and confirm the WLL is appropriate for the load.
Steel Grade vs Stainless Grade
Alloy steel lifting chain (G70, G80, G100) and galvanised hardware chain are suitable for most dry and moderately humid industrial environments. For marine, saltwater, or food-contact environments, 316 stainless steel is preferred for its superior chloride corrosion resistance. 304 stainless steel is appropriate for fresh water and mildly corrosive indoor environments.
Chain Size and WLL
Chain WLL is determined by material grade and link diameter. Increasing the chain diameter significantly increases WLL — G80 chain in 13mm diameter typically has a WLL many times higher than 6mm G80 chain. Always confirm the chain size and grade combination gives the required WLL with appropriate safety factor for the application.
Marking and Traceability — AS 3775
Alloy steel lifting chain sold in Australia must be individually proof-tested and marked with WLL, grade, and traceability identification per AS 3775. Do not use unmarked or unidentified chain for lifting applications. Hardware and transport chain is not marked to AS 3775 — confirm the chain type before use in any lifting application.
