Why LOTO Padlocks Are Different to Security Padlocks

A safety lockout padlock is not a general-purpose security padlock with a safety sticker on it — it's purpose-built for isolation work, with features a standard brass or steel security padlock doesn't need:

Keyed Different vs Keyed Alike

Keyed different (KD) is the standard configuration for personal LOTO use — every padlock has its own unique key, held only by the worker who applied it.
