Choosing a wire rope grip
Start with the rope diameter, because a grip must match it exactly. Then choose the finish. Galvanised and zinc plated grips suit general use, and stainless steel suits wet, marine and corrosive environments. Fit the saddle on the live (load-carrying) end of the rope and the U-bolt on the dead end, and use the number of grips and spacing in the manufacturer's instructions for your rope size. Check the nuts are tight after the first load.
Always check the data sheet. Confirm the rope size, number of grips and suitability for your application. Wire rope grips are not suitable for every lifting use, so check before using them in a lifting assembly.
