Choosing a shaft collar
Start with the shaft diameter and check whether it is metric or imperial, because both are listed. Then choose the collar type. Set screw collars are held by a screw on the shaft. Clamp collars are held by tightening the split collar around the shaft. A two piece collar goes around the shaft from the side, which helps where a one piece collar cannot be slid on from the shaft end.
Choose 304 stainless steel where the collar will be exposed to moisture or washdown. Check the material of the screws or bolts too, so the fasteners match the collar.
Always check the data sheet. Confirm the bore, size and holding requirement suit your shaft and application before ordering.

Shaft collar FAQs
What is the difference between a set screw collar and a clamp collar?
A set screw collar is held on the shaft by a screw. A clamp collar is a split collar that is tightened around the shaft. We list both types, with one piece and two piece clamp versions.
When do I need a two piece shaft collar?
A two piece collar fits around the shaft from the side, so it suits shafts where a one piece collar cannot be slid on from the end.
Do you have stainless steel shaft collars?
Yes. 304 stainless steel set screw collars are listed in metric (SSFSC-10 to SSFSC-50) and imperial (SSFSC-3/8 to SSFSC-2).
Are shaft collars available in metric and imperial sizes?
Yes. Each collar type is listed in a metric and an imperial version. Check your shaft size and units before ordering.
