1/2 in (15 mm) Class 800 Fire Safe Ball Valve, Carbon Steel | VBSFS15

This AAP 3-piece Class 800 fire safe ball valve has a carbon steel (ASTM A216 WCB) body and end cap, with a CF8M / 316 stainless steel ball and stem. It is supplied in 6 sizes from 1/2 in (15 mm) to 2 in (50 mm).

A ball valve turns a ball with a hole through it between sealing seats. When the lever or handle is in line with the pipe the hole lines up with the flow and the valve is open, and a quarter turn closes it. AAP notes that the handle sits in line with the port, so it shows the valve position.

AAP lists a cold working pressure of 2,000 psi (13,789 kPa), a maximum working temperature of 200 degrees C and a thread to ANSI B1.20.1 (NPT), with an ISO 5211 mounting pad, inspection and testing to API 598, and end-to-end dimensions to ASME B16.10, all manufacturer-stated. The seat, gasket and thrust washer are PTFE, the stem packing is graphite and the valve has an anti-static device. AAP gives the application as water, oil and gas (WOG).

AAP names the valve fire safe but does not state the fire test standard it was tested to, so confirm that with AIMS if your job needs a certified fire-tested valve. The 1/4 in to 1/2 in sizes are not direct mounting for an actuator.

Selecting the right option

Choose the size to match your NPT pipe thread, and check the ISO 5211 pad against your actuator if you are fitting one. AAP also lists this valve in stainless steel for more corrosive duties, and flanged fire safe valves for larger lines.
