This AAP UPVC double union ball valve has a UPVC body and ball, an ABS handle and screwed (BSP) ends. It is supplied in 5 sizes from 3/4 in (20 mm) to 2 in (50 mm).
A ball valve turns a ball with a hole through it between sealing seats. When the lever or handle is in line with the pipe the hole lines up with the flow and the valve is open, and a quarter turn closes it. AAP notes that the handle sits in line with the port, so it shows the valve position.
A double union valve has a union nut at each end, so the body can be taken out of the pipeline for servicing or replacement without cutting the pipe. AAP lists a 60 degrees C maximum working temperature and a cold working pressure of 150 psi (1,034 kPa), a PTFE seal seat and a Viton O-ring, and gives the thread as AS 1722.1 (all manufacturer-stated).
AAP describes it as suited to water, weak acids and alkaline solutions and some corrosive liquids, and asks that its chemical chart is consulted for suitability. Plastic valves lose pressure rating as temperature rises, so confirm the rating at your operating temperature with AIMS.

Selecting the right option
Choose the size to match your pipe thread. Check chemical compatibility against the AAP chemical chart before you use it on anything other than water, and confirm the rating if the line will run warm. AAP also lists PVC ball valves in screwed and socket ends.
