1-1/4 in (32 mm) EPDM Rubber Bellow, Table E | RB32
Available
This AAP EPDM rubber bellow is drilled to Table E (manufacturer-stated). It is supplied in 16 sizes from 1-1/4 in (32 mm) to 24 in (600 mm).
A rubber bellow is a flexible joint moulded in a spherical shape from heat-resisting synthetic elastomer, with metal floating flanges. Installed in a piping system, it absorbs movement in three directions: axial (elongation and compression along the centre line), lateral (offset from the centre line) and angular (bending about the centre line).
The body is EPDM, rated -30 to +120 °C, with a nylon cord fabric lining and a hard steel wire frame. AAP lists EPDM as generally resistant to animal and vegetable oils, ozone, and strong and oxidising chemicals, and generally affected or attacked by mineral oils and solvents, and aromatic hydrocarbons. Applications listed by AAP: air, compressed air, water, sea water, hot water and weak acid.

Selecting the right option
Match the flange drilling to the flanges on your pipework: this bellow is drilled to Table E (AS2129, manufacturer-stated). Check the movement you need to absorb against the table, because AAP lists each movement separately, and contact AIMS if the joint will see more than one movement at once. EPDM is not suited to mineral oils, solvents or aromatic hydrocarbons, so choose an NBR bellow for those duties. Working pressure steps down with size: 1,600 kPa up to DN300, 1,000 kPa for DN350 and DN400 and 600 kPa for DN500 and DN600. AAP lists DN450 under both the 1,000 kPa and 600 kPa ranges, so confirm the 18 in size with AIMS. If you are not sure what suits, contact AIMS with your pipe size, flange standard, fluid and temperature.
