This AAP black reducing socket is a mild steel fitting with BSP threads. It is supplied in 27 sizes, 1/4 x 1/8 in (8 x 6 mm) to 4 x 3 in (100 x 80 mm).
A reducing socket joins two male threaded pipes of different sizes. It is threaded inside at both ends, with a different size at each end. Sizes are listed as the larger thread first, then the smaller. A is the length, C the outside diameter at the small end and D the outside diameter at the large end, as lettered on the AAP drawing.
AAP states that its steel threaded pipe fittings are made to BS EN 10241:2000 (manufacturer-stated). It has a black finish. AAP states that all sizes of its fittings other than unions are sample tested to 5.2 MPa (manufacturer-stated). These are test pressures, not working pressures, so confirm the pressure and temperature for your application with AIMS before you order.
