1 x 1/2 in (25 x 15 mm) Socket Weld Reducing Tee, 3000lb | PT2515S
Available
This AAP socket weld reducing tee is a forged carbon steel fitting. It is supplied in 6 sizes, 1 x 1/2 in (25 x 15 mm) to 2 x 1-1/2 in (50 x 40 mm).
A reducing tee has a branch port smaller than its run. This one has a socket at each port for the pipe to be welded into. The size is given as the run first, then the branch. A is the overall length of the run and D the centre to end dimension. B1 and C1 are the socket bore and bore of the fitting for the run, B2 and C2 the same for the branch, as AAP's drawing letters them.
AAP rates its socket weld high pressure fittings at 3000 lb (manufacturer-stated). AAP's pressure and temperature chart for screwed and socket welding fittings lists 3000 lb fittings at 3000 psi (about 20.7 MPa) from -20 to 100 degrees F (-29 to 38 degrees C), reducing to 355 psi (about 2.4 MPa) at 1000 degrees F (538 degrees C). AAP lists ASTM A105 carbon steel forgings among the standards for the range.

A is the overall length of the run and D the centre to end dimension. B1 and C1 are the socket bore and bore of the fitting for the run (the larger size), B2 and C2 the same for the branch. AAP prints two values for B and C at each size; they are shown here as printed, larger value first.
Selecting the right option
Choose the size to match your pipe, and weld the pipe into the socket in line with your site welding procedure. Sizes are listed as the run first, then the branch.
