BECO 625 Extreme Temperature Deep Groove Ball Bearing, Shielded 280°C, 5 x 16 x 5 mm

The BECO BHTS ZZ 280° is a deep groove ball bearing for ovens, kilns and furnaces. It is built on standard bearing boundary dimensions from stabilised AISI 52100 chrome steel, with a manganese phosphate coating on all steel parts, 4xC5 radial internal clearance and ZZ steel shields on both sides. This range has 38 sizes with bores from 5 to 65 mm across the miniature, 6000, 6200 and 6300 series.

BECO rates it for -40°C to +280°C and recommends it for 200°C to 280°C, where it performs best. It is lubricated for life with a PTFE-based, silicone-free grease that has a dropping point above 400°C, so it needs no additional lubrication.

Selecting the right option

Select by bore, outside diameter and width first, then check the limiting speed for that size in the table against the shaft speed. Limiting speeds run from 480 to 2,300 rpm, falling as the bearing gets larger.

The static load rating is shown at 280°C and at 20°C. Use the figure for the temperature the bearing will actually run at.

BECO describes 200°C to 280°C as the range where this bearing performs best. Where the temperature stays below 200°C the shielded 200°C range is the lower-temperature option, and for 280°C to 350°C see the graphite cage 350°C range.

ZZ shields are non-contact steel shields. BECO notes that its Viton sealed 250°-280° range has the same functional and structural characteristics with a higher level of protection against the environment. That range carries a lower continuous rating, to 250°C, because the Viton seals wear faster above it.

Fitting and use

This bearing is lubricated for life and needs no additional lubrication.

Press the ring that has the interference fit onto its seat, and never push through the balls or the other ring.
