The Bossweld X-Cut 15 is a lightweight inverter plasma cutter that runs from a standard 240 V supply through a fitted 15 A plug. It has a 40 A output and pilot arc start, and cuts up to 15 mm (manufacturer-stated). It ships with a 4 m PT40 torch, a 3 m earth clamp and a carry strap, so it is ready to cut once it is connected to an air supply.

IGBT inverter technology keeps the machine compact and the arc stable, which makes it easy to carry between jobs. A built-in air regulator and an air-check switch let you set up the air supply at the machine, and the machine has a central torch connector. It suits fabrication, automotive and general metalwork.

This version comes with a bonus consumable pack, the Bossweld Plasma Wear Parts Kit PT40, so you have spare front-end parts from day one. The kit contains 1 x PT40 nozzle, 1 x PT40 double-pointed spacer, 1 x PT40 air diffuser, 3 x PR0110 electrodes, 3 x 0.8 mm PD0116 plasma tips and 3 x 0.9 mm PD0116 plasma tips.

Selecting the right option

Check that your 240 V outlet is rated for the machine and that you have a clean, dry compressed air supply, as plasma cutting needs one. The operator manual gives the air pressure and flow. An inline filter such as the Bossweld Plasma Air Filter M26 helps keep moisture and oil out of the torch. If you need more than 15 mm, you will need a higher output machine.
