The CF series is the basic stud type in the IKO cam follower range, with stud diameters from 3 mm to 30 mm. This page is the stainless steel version, which suits applications where oil cannot be used or water splashes, and clean rooms. A cam follower is a bearing with a stud, with needle rollers inside a thick-walled outer ring. The outer ring rotates and runs directly on the mating track (cam guide surface), so cam followers suit cam mechanisms and linear motions and are used in machine tools, industrial robots, electronic devices and office automation (OA) equipment.

In the part number, the number after CF is the stud diameter in mm; B is the hexagon hole in the stud head, V is the full complement type (no V is with cage), F is stainless steel, UU is the sealed type (no UU is the shield type), and R is the crowned outer ring (no R is cylindrical). Every model on this page is sealed type, with cage, cylindrical outer ring.

Length B1 is the overall length with the stud; where marked max it is a maximum. C is the basic dynamic load rating and C0 the basic static load rating. Mass is for the product body only: the nut, grease nipple and other accessories are not included.

Selecting the right option

Pick the outside diameter of the outer ring (dimension D, in mm) in the options above: the stud size, thread and ratings follow from the model number shown in the Model Details. All sizes on this page are stud types with a hexagon hole in the stud head and a cage.

Some stud sizes come with more than one outer ring, so check the diameter against your cam track: 22 mm OD and 26 mm OD (CF10FBUU and CF10-1FBUU).

Match the stud diameter and thread to your mounting hole and nut: the Model Details list the thread, the thread length and the hexagon hole size.

This page is the cylindrical outer ring type. A cylindrical ring has a large contact area with the mating guide surface and suits applications where the applied load is large or the guide surface hardness is low.

Every model here has a cage, which gives a small coefficient of friction and suits high speed rotations.

Fitting and use

Make the centre axis of the mounting hole perpendicular to the direction of travel and match the stud shoulder accurately with the seating surface given by dimension f (min.) in the Model Details. Keep the chamfer on the mounting hole as small as possible (C0.5 or so), and do not hit the flange head directly with a hammer, because that can lead to irregular rotation or cracking.

Hold the hexagon hole with a hex key and tighten the nut with a spanner: turning the hexagon hole itself to tighten can damage it. Do not exceed the maximum tightening torque in the Model Details, because an over-tightened thread can break. Where loosening is possible, use a lock nut, spring washer or self-locking nut.

The mark on the flange head shows the oil hole position on the raceway: keep the oil hole out of the loading zone. The recommended mounting hole tolerance for the stud is H7.
