Selecting the right option
For general industrial degreasing outside food areas see the standard CRC Bio Degreaser, which is a separate product without the NSF registration.
Using it
Soak, pre-wash or apply directly to a pre-tested surface. Allow the product to penetrate the soil, then wipe or rinse with clean water or a damp sponge. For heavily soiled items, remove excess debris with a scraper or wire brush first.
Dilution: full strength for very heavy grease, oil, sludge, grime, tyre marks and tools; 10:1 for general degreasing of relatively heavy soiling; 20:1 for hard surface cleaning to remove hand prints and light grease.
In food processing areas, the NSF letter requires food and packaging to be removed or protected before use, and cleaned surfaces to be rinsed with potable water after use.
Storage and handling
Store in a cool, dry, well ventilated area, away from incompatible substances and foodstuffs. Keep containers labelled, protected from physical damage and sealed when not in use.
Limits and safety
SDS classification (revision 2.3): not classified as hazardous under Safe Work Australia criteria, with no signal word, pictograms or hazard statements, and not dangerous goods. The pH is 7.5 to 8.0, so it is slightly alkaline rather than neutral. The NSF category A1 does not cover direct food contact and is not an H1 registration. Test on a pre-tested surface before use. Read the safety data sheet before use.
Frequently asked questions
Is CRC Food Grade Bio Degreaser NSF registered?
Yes. NSF Registration No. 157761, Category A1: acceptable for use as a general cleaner on all surfaces in and around food processing areas where its use is not intended for direct food contact (NSF letter 28/09/18). CRC does not state an H1 registration.
