CRC GDI IVD Intake Valve & Turbo Cleaner Aerosol 312g
Out of stock
CRC GDI IVD Intake Valve & Turbo Cleaner is an aerosol that removes carbon build-up commonly found on the backs of intake valves in all types of petrol powered engines. CRC recommends it for air intake valves in gasoline direct injection (GDI) and standard fuel injection engines.
It is sprayed into the air intake past the MAF sensor with the engine running, using the Permastraw dual-action spray system. CRC says no intake manifold disassembly is required and that it is safe on turbochargers and intercoolers.
Where this product is used
- Air intake valves in gasoline direct injection (GDI) engines
- Air intake valves in standard fuel injection engines
- Removing carbon build-up from the backs of intake valves in petrol powered engines
- Use on engines with turbochargers and intercoolers (CRC states it is safe on these)
Features
- Removes carbon build-up from the backs of intake valves in petrol powered engines
- Works in GDI and standard fuel injection engines
- CRC states it is safe on turbos and intercoolers
- Permastraw dual-action spray system: one piece actuator with two-way spray and a 360 degree valve
- CRC states no intake manifold disassembly is required
- CRC lists power, torque, rough idle, starting, emissions and fuel economy benefits; it gives no test data for them

Selecting the right option
For other air intake cleaners see CRC Throttle Body & Air Intake Cleaner 400g and CRC Mass Air Flow Sensor Cleaner Aerosol 300g. This product is for intake valves, not for cleaning the MAF sensor.
Using it
Start the engine and bring it to operating temperature. Remove the air filter cover and locate the MAF sensor between the air box and throttle body.
Lift the Permastraw and insert it past the MAF sensor. Do not spray in front of the MAF sensor, as it may throw a code; the air intake may need disassembly to reach past it.
With the engine at 2,000 RPM, spray continuously in 30 second intervals until the can is empty, accelerating if needed to avoid stalling. Do not exceed 3,500 RPM. Once empty, accelerate 2 to 3 times (not above 3,500 RPM), then idle for one minute and switch off.
Reassemble and allow the engine to heat-soak for one hour. Restart and drive at highway speeds for at least 10 minutes.
CRC says to use it when symptoms occur or every 16,000 km. Symptoms it lists are hard starts, rough idle, poor acceleration, reduced fuel economy, excess emissions and power loss.
Storage and handling
Do not puncture, incinerate or store above 50 °C. Keep away from live electrical sources.
Limits and safety
DANGER. Extremely flammable aerosol; pressurised container that may burst if heated. Suspected of causing cancer (Carcinogenicity Category 2). UN 1950, Class 2.1. Flash point below 23 °C. Never spray in front of the MAF sensor. Read the safety data sheet before use.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I spray CRC GDI IVD Intake Valve & Turbo Cleaner?
CRC says to spray into the air intake behind (past) the MAF sensor, not in front of it. Run the engine at 2,000 RPM, spray in 30 second intervals until the can is empty, and never exceed 3,500 RPM.
Does the intake manifold need to come off?
CRC states no intake manifold disassembly is required, though the air intake may need partial disassembly to reach past the MAF sensor.
How often should CRC GDI IVD be used?
CRC's data sheet says to use it when symptoms occur or every 16,000 km.
Is it safe for turbos and intercoolers?
CRC states it is safe for use on turbochargers and intercoolers.
Is CRC GDI IVD flammable?
Yes. The safety data sheet (03 Apr 2025) classes it as an extremely flammable aerosol (H222), flash point below 23 °C, UN 1950 Class 2.1.
Does CRC GDI IVD carry a health warning?
Yes. The safety data sheet classes it DANGER and Carcinogenicity Category 2: suspected of causing cancer.
