Dixon FPT-PO-050 50 mm PetroGard Overwrap Tape, 30 m

This Dixon PetroGard overwrap tape is used over the PetroGard wrap where mechanical protection is needed. Dixon lists it in 3 widths, from 50 mm to 150 mm, in 30 m rolls (manufacturer-stated).

The PetroGard system was developed to protect metal surfaces in severe environments, and it is designed to go on over wire-brushed surfaces in exposed, underground and underwater applications (manufacturer-stated).

Dixon says surfaces should be cleaned of dirt, oil, scale and excess moisture, and loose rust, paint and residue removed by hand or power tool in accordance with AS1627 (Dixon cites the 1977 edition and Part 2 of 1975), then coated with petro primer paste (manufacturer-stated). Start a new roll with a 50 mm roll-to-roll overlap, and smooth all overlaps by hand (manufacturer-stated).

Selecting the right option

Pick the width to suit the pipe or fitting you are protecting. The overwrap is a second layer over the PetroGard wrap, so order the wrap, the primer paste and, for valves and flanges, the mastic with it.
