An eccentric collar insert locks to the shaft with a collar that turns against the inner ring. It is the replaceable bearing inside a plummer block (pillow block), flange or take-up unit, and the spherical O.D. seats in a housing with a matching spherical bore.

Selecting the right option

Every size on this page has an imperial (inch) bore. The drop-down shows the shaft size in inches; the Model Details give the bore in mm with the inch size in brackets. Metric shafts need the metric version of the insert.

The catalogue offers the SA series in a re-lube style (grease groove and holes on the O.D.) and a sealed-for-life style. The model numbers on this page do not carry the letter that marks the style, so ask AIMS first if re-lubrication matters for your application.

Fitting and use

Check the load and speed against the catalogue figures in the Model Details before ordering, and apply a suitable safety factor. The allowable rotating speed in the catalogue is a standard value: it falls to 80% for units fitted with covers, and a loose fit between shaft and inner ring reduces it further.

Fit the collar against the inner ring so the eccentric surfaces engage, then tighten the set screw in the collar.

The spherical O.D. seats in a housing with a matching spherical bore. Ask AIMS to confirm the housing for your insert before ordering.
