Loctite 5070 Pro Pipe Repair Kit 2 inch

Loctite 5070 Pro (Loctite PC 5070 PRO) is a complete emergency pipe repair kit. It combines an epoxy stick, black rubber pressure sealing tape, urethane-impregnated fibreglass tape and a clear compression film.

It can seal live leaks up to 4.1 bar (60 psi) and works on copper, steel, stainless steel, PVC, FRP, clay, concrete and rubber pipe. Henkel gives the pipe size as up to 4 inches (10.16 cm) in diameter, and AIMS sells 2 inch and 4 inch kits.

Selecting the right option

For a fibreglass tape and epoxy stick kit without the rubber pressure tape, see Loctite 96321 Pipe Repair Kit 50mm x 1.8m. The epoxy stick in this kit is Loctite EA 3463, also sold on its own as Loctite 3463 Metal Magic Steel (EA 3463 Metal-filled Epoxy Stick).

Using it

Apply between 10 °C and 30 °C. Henkel's typical values are measured at 23 °C and 50 % RH.

The fibreglass tape is activated by soaking it in room-temperature water for 10 seconds.

The compression film is removed after about 10 minutes. The wrap is fully hardened in about 30 minutes, and the pipe can return to service within an hour depending on temperature.

The current Henkel data sheet for this kit gives no storage conditions. Follow the instructions on the kit packaging, and contact AIMS if you need guidance.

Limits and safety

Not recommended for pure oxygen or oxygen-rich systems, or as a sealant for chlorine or strong oxidisers. Henkel's values are typical (23 °C, 50 % RH) and are for reference only, not specifications. Read the safety data sheet before use.

Frequently asked questions

Can Loctite 5070 Pro seal a live leak?

Yes, up to 60 psi (4.1 bar) live leaks. Once the epoxy and wrap have cured, the maximum pressure is 300 psi (about 20.7 bar).

How long until the pipe is back in service?

The wrap is fully hardened in about 30 minutes, and the pipe can return to service within an hour, depending on temperature.

What temperature range can the kit be used in?

Apply it between 10 °C and 30 °C. The cured repair has an operating temperature of -45 °C to 121 °C.

Which pipe materials does it work on?
