Loctite 648 Retaining Compound

The Loctite 648 High Strength, High Temperature Retaining Compound is a green, low-viscosity anaerobic for cylindrical assemblies that run hot, rated from -55°C to +180°C. It holds gears and sprockets on shafts, rotors on motor shafts, and bushings and sleeves in housings, with gaps up to 0.15 mm. It cures on both active and passive metals without a primer, tolerates light oil contamination and fixtures in about 3 minutes. This is the 50 ml bottle.
Coat the leading edge of the shaft and the inside of the bore for slip fits, both faces for press fits, or the unheated part for shrink fits, then assemble. Removal needs local heat to about 250°C, and it is not recommended on thermoplastics or in oxygen, chlorine or strong oxidiser service. Consult the Safety Data Sheet before use.
