Sutton M1051000 M10 x 1.5 Metric Impact Tap - 1/4 in Hex Shank, Intermediate Lead

The Sutton M105 impact taps in M10 and M12 are metric coarse impact taps with a 1/4 in hex shank for impact drivers, an intermediate lead and straight flutes, made from Tungsten Chrome Alloy (TCA). The drill is not included with these two sizes.

Designed for use in impact drivers for extremely fast tapping, around 3 seconds a hole and in excess of 20 times faster than hand tapping. Suitable for steel, aluminium, brass, cast iron, plastic and nylon. For general purpose and maintenance applications only: not suitable for precision, safety or critical threads. For tapping up to 1-1/2 x diameter. The tapping drill is not included with the M10 and M12 impact taps. Applications include DIY, trade, automotive, plumbing, metalworking and MRO work.

Sizes and item numbers

Using the impact tap

• Drill the tap drill size shown in the size table, then fit the tap in an impact driver with a 1/4 in hex chuck.
• Keep the tap square to the work and use a cutting fluid suited to the material.
• Use for general purpose and maintenance threads only, to a depth of up to 1-1/2 x the tap diameter.
