Sutton M1050300 M3 x 0.5 Metric Impact Tap and Drill Set - 1/4 in Hex

The Sutton M105 impact tap and drill sets are metric coarse impact taps with a matching tapping drill in 5 sizes, M3 to M8. The taps have a 1/4 in hex shank for impact drivers, an intermediate lead and straight flutes, and are made from Tungsten Chrome Alloy (TCA).

Designed for use in impact drivers for extremely fast tapping, around 3 seconds a hole and in excess of 20 times faster than hand tapping. Suitable for steel, aluminium, brass, cast iron, plastic and nylon. For general purpose and maintenance applications only: not suitable for precision, safety or critical threads. For tapping up to 1-1/2 x diameter. Each hang pack contains the impact tap and the matching tapping drill. Applications include DIY, trade, automotive, plumbing, metalworking and MRO work.

Using the impact tap

• Drill the tap drill size shown in the size table, then fit the tap in an impact driver with a 1/4 in hex chuck.
• Keep the tap square to the work and use a cutting fluid suited to the material.
• Use for general purpose and maintenance threads only, to a depth of up to 1-1/2 x the tap diameter.
