Sutton D6050600 6mm Blue Ceram Diamond Core Drill Bit - 10mm Hex Shank, for Tiles
Available
The Sutton D605 Blue Ceram diamond core drill bits are 10 mm hex shank core bits for tiles, in 6, 8, 10 and 12 mm sizes. They use diamond segment technology for long life with water, and are used for drilling porcelain, monocottura, marble, glazed, terracotta, sandstone and standard ceramic tiles.
The diamond segment tip is designed for long life and can be dressed for optimal performance. The 10 mm hex shank suits non-hammer action portable power drills, and the large core cavity is designed for fast material extraction. Blue Ceram bits drill oversize, which is designed to allow drilling and fixing into the material below the surface without chipping the tile (see the actual hole diameter in the table).

Using the core bits
- Use with water, with a cutting speed under 3000 RPM, and do not use the hammer setting, which will damage the bit and tile.
- To avoid the drill slipping, start with a 45° angle, then straighten up the drill gradually once the hole is started.
- Apply consistent pressure and let the tool do the work, making a swinging movement to allow for dust evacuation.
- Make sure the core has been removed from the bit after drilling.
- When the tip darkens, it is becoming blunt and must be dressed with a dressing stone.
