SY 06B-3 BS Triplex Roller Chain Connecting Link, 3/8 in Pitch

SY connecting links join the ends of a length of BS triplex roller chain into a continuous loop. Each size here is matched to the SY chain of the same number, so select the link with the same chain number, strand count and series as your chain.

Selecting the right option

For BS chain the number is the pitch in sixteenths of an inch: 08B is 8/16 in (1/2 in), 12B is 12/16 in (3/4 in), 16B is 1 in. The figure after the dash is the number of strands.

SBR is the standard choice for most drives and conveyors. Step up to H, HE or SUP H where loads are heavy or shocked, or to Aqua-Proof, stainless steel or self-lube chain where the environment calls for it.

Fitting and use

Fit the retaining clip or pin the way Sugiyama shows: spring clips go on with the closed end pointing the direction the chain runs, cotter pin prongs are opened to a 60 degree angle, and cotter pins must not be re-used. Use the clip or pin supplied with the link.

Chain drives should be guarded. Lock out machine power before removing, installing or servicing chain, wear eye protection when driving or grinding pins, avoid welding or plating assembled chain, and never repair damaged chain by replacing only some of its parts.
