Choosing chain and sprockets
Work from the chain. Note the series (BS or ASA), the size number such as 08B or 40, and the number of strands, then choose sprockets of the same series, size and strand count. BS and ASA parts are not interchangeable. Taper lock and reverse taper lock sprockets need a matching taper lock bush, while pilot bore and weld fit sprockets are bored or fitted separately. Plan for connecting links and offset links when you order chain by the length.
Always check the data sheet. Confirm pitch, bore, tooth count and suitability for the drive before ordering.

Chain and sprocket FAQs
How do I match a sprocket to my roller chain?
Match the series (BS or ASA), the chain size number, and the number of strands. For example, an 08B chain needs a BS 08B sprocket, and a duplex chain needs a duplex sprocket. Then choose the tooth count and the bore or bush for your shaft.
What is the difference between BS and ASA chain?
They are different series with different size numbering, such as 08B and 16B for BS and 40, 60 and 80 for ASA. They are not interchangeable.
What types of sprocket do you list?
Our Finer sprockets include taper lock, reverse taper lock, pilot bore, weld fit and plate wheel types, in steel, cast iron and stainless steel, for BS and ASA chain in simplex, duplex and triplex.
Do you have stainless steel chain and sprockets?
