SY Self-Lube ASA Roller Chain Offset Link (Half Link)
Available
SY offset links (half links) let a length of self-lube ASA simplex roller chain be made up with an odd number of pitches. Each size here matches the SY chain of the same number, so select the link with the same chain number, strand count and series as your chain.
Made in Japan by Sugiyama Chain Co., Ltd. Where possible, choose a chain length with an even number of pitches so that no offset link is needed.
Where this product is used
- Drives and conveyors where regular relubrication is difficult
- Dry, clean-running machinery below about 70 °C
- Hard-to-reach chain drives
Features
- Matched to the SY chain of the same number and series
- Makes up an odd number of pitches
- Part of the self-lube range, for lube-free chain
- Made in Japan by Sugiyama Chain Co., Ltd

Choosing the right option
For ASA (ANSI) chain the number is the pitch in eighths of an inch: 40 is 4/8" (1/2"), 60 is 6/8" (3/4"), 100 is 10/8" (1-1/4"). The figure after the dash is the number of strands.
Choose SLR where relubricating is impractical. This ANSI size as SLR-TS, the self-lube chain for drives, which has the same strength as standard carbon steel chain and a longer pin length than SBR, so check clearances. Keep it away from water, chemicals and shock loads.
A two-pitch offset link is available for that duty.
Service life drops sharply if the lubricant in the bushings is depleted, and the lubricant seeps out quickly above about 70 °C operating temperature.
Wet or dusty environments can lead to premature wear. Sugiyama does not recommend SLR chain where it is exposed to chemicals, water or shock load.
Chain drives should be guarded. Lock out machine power before removing, installing or servicing chain, wear eye protection when driving or grinding pins, avoid welding or plating assembled chain, and never repair damaged chain by replacing only some of its parts.
