Chemical Manufacturing Industrial Supplies
AIMS Industrial supplies chemical manufacturers, agrichemical producers, coatings and adhesives plants, industrial gas facilities, and speciality chemicals operations across Australia. Corrosion-resistant fasteners, hazardous-area equipment, chemically-inert elastomers, spill response, PPE for solvent and acid handling, and every consumable a chemical plant needs to operate under AS/NZS 60079, AS 1940 and Australian Dangerous Goods compliance.
Chemical Industry Compliance Framework
Chemical manufacturing in Australia operates under a stacked regulatory framework covering hazardous areas, dangerous goods storage, worker exposure limits, and product-specific standards. AIMS supplies to that framework — Certificates of Conformance and Safety Data Sheets available on any product where compliance documentation is required.
Standards regularly referenced across chemical industry procurement include:
- AS/NZS 60079 series — explosive atmospheres classification, Ex protection types, equipment protection levels
- AS 1940 — storage and handling of flammable and combustible liquids
- AS/NZS 2243 series — safety in laboratories (for R&D operations)
- AS/NZS 60529 — IP ratings for equipment ingress protection
- AS 3780 — corrosive substance storage
- AS 4326 — bulk fuel storage
- ADG Code — Australian Dangerous Goods Code (transport and packaging)
- WHS Regulations Chapter 7 (Hazardous Chemicals) — Safe Work Australia framework
- AICIS — Australian Industrial Chemicals Introduction Scheme (chemical registration)
Hazardous Area Equipment
Where flammable atmospheres are present or expected, equipment must be certified to the appropriate zone classification:
- Zone 0/20 — atmosphere present continuously
- Zone 1/21 — atmosphere likely in normal operation
- Zone 2/22 — atmosphere unlikely, short duration if present
See our Electric Motors for Hazardous Areas Guide for equipment selection covering Ex d (flameproof), Ex e (increased safety), Ex n (non-sparking), and Ex i (intrinsic safety) protection types. AIMS supplies Ex-rated electric motors from TechTop and other manufacturers where IECEx / ATEX certification is required.
Corrosion-Resistant Fasteners
Chemical exposure kills standard fasteners fast. AIMS supplies the grades that survive:
- 316L stainless — general chemical resistance, standard specification for most chemical service. Bumax, Hobson, Inox World across every profile.
- Duplex and super-duplex — for chloride-heavy environments, seawater cooling loops, harsh acid service. Special-order through AIMS.
- Hastelloy, Monel, Inconel — for aggressive acid or high-temperature chemical service. Special-order sourcing available.
- Titanium — for ultra-corrosive service (bleach circuits, certain acid service). Special-order.
Full stainless steel fastener range — hex bolts, socket head cap screws, nuts, washers, threaded rod, and specialty fixings. Grade certification documentation available on request for compliance dossiers.
Chemically-Resistant Elastomers
Getting seal and gasket materials right is the difference between a functioning plant and a chemical release incident. AIMS supplies:
- Viton (FKM) — aromatic and chlorinated solvents, fuels, most acids at moderate temperature
- EPDM — ketones, hot water, steam, dilute acids and bases; NOT for petroleum or aromatic solvents
- PTFE (Teflon) — near-universal chemical resistance, ideal for aggressive service where compression set isn't critical
- NBR (Buna-N) — petroleum oils, aliphatic hydrocarbons; not chemical service
- FFKM (Kalrez-type) — special-order for extreme chemical service, aggressive amines, high temperature
Full range in o-rings, gaskets, gasket materials, and spiral wound gaskets. See our O-Ring Chemical Resistance Chart covering 82 chemicals across NBR, Viton, EPDM and Silicone — the reference AIMS engineers use when matching material to service.
Spill Response & Containment
Every chemical facility needs first-response absorbents and containment. AIMS supplies:
- Spill kits — general purpose, hydrocarbon-specific, and chemical (universal) sorted by 25L, 50L, 120L, 240L, and 660L capacity
- Absorbents — SpillFix and MAXSorb organic granular absorbent, floor-sweep, pads, socks, and pillows
- Bunding and drip trays — polyethylene, steel, spill pallets for IBC and drum containment
- Emergency showers and eyewash — for point-of-use chemical splash response. Compliant to AS 4775.
Chemical PPE
Personal protective equipment matched to the chemical service:
Chemical Gloves
Nitrile, neoprene, butyl, and PVA chemical-resistant gloves. Selection depends on chemical exposure — call us with your primary chemical service and we'll match the glove.
Respiratory Protection
Half-face and full-face respirators from Mack, Frontier and others. Cartridge selection covers organic vapour (OV), acid gas (AG), ammonia, formaldehyde, particulate P1/P2/P3, and combinations. See our Respirator Selection Guide.
Eye & Face Protection
Chemical splash goggles, indirect-vent goggles, and full face shields. Compliant to AS/NZS 1337.1.
Chemical-Resistant Clothing
Coveralls — disposable Tyvek and Tychem-equivalent for solvent and acid handling. Chemical-resistant aprons and sleeves for point-of-exposure protection.
Chemical-Resistant Footwear
Safety boots with chemical-resistant soles. Rubber gumboots for high-exposure roles. AS/NZS 2210.3 compliant.
Chemically-Inert Lubrication
Where standard petroleum-based lubricants attack seals or contaminate product streams, AIMS supplies:
- PTFE-based dry film lubricants — for chemical-service valve stems, dosing pump linkages
- Silicone greases — for chlorine, oxygen, and acid service
- Perfluoropolyether (PFPE) — for oxygen service, aggressive chemical exposure. Special-order.
- Food-grade greases — NSF H1 for facilities producing chemicals that touch food or personal care streams
Full grease range, oils and hydraulic fluids, and speciality Loctite anaerobic sealants and thread compounds appropriate for chemical service.
Chemical Transfer & Materials Handling
AODD chemical transfer pumps with PTFE or FKM diaphragms. Drum pumps and drum handling equipment. Chemical-resistant hose and tubing in PTFE-lined, EPDM, or specialty compounds. Chemical-resistant hose fittings and camlock couplings in 316L stainless.
Marking, Signage & Dangerous Goods
Australian Dangerous Goods placarding, hazard warning signs, pipe marking, and lockout-tagout for chemical facility WHS compliance. Full signage range including Brady chemical labels. Lockout-tagout equipment — AS/NZS 4836 compliant kits.
Trade Accounts & Procurement
Chemical industry procurement typically requires SDS documentation, material CoC, and supplier qualification tied to specific AICIS or APVMA product registration. AIMS trade accounts offer 30-day EOM terms and dedicated account contact. ABN 85 152 943 596 — Fully Chic Pty Ltd t/as AIMS Industrial Supplies. RFQ lodgement, PO processing and compliance documentation on request.
