Choosing valves

Start with the job the valve has to do. Choose a ball valve for on and off control, a gate valve for straight-through flow, a globe valve where you want to throttle, a butterfly valve for larger lines, and a check valve to stop reverse flow. Then check the body material, the end connection, screwed, flanged, socket or wafer, and the size in the product title. Check the seat or seal material and the handle or operator. Parts used together in one line, such as a valve and its flanges, should be matched to each other, so check the data sheet on the product page. Our guides cover the main decisions: ball valves, gate valves, globe valves, butterfly valves, check valves and lockout tagout. Always check the product page and the data sheet for the specification and the application before you order.

Valves FAQs

What valves does AIMS Industrial list?

AAP and Dixon ball, gate, globe, butterfly, check and relief valves, foot valves, air valves, mining and lockout ball valves, and fire hydrant landing valves.

What is the difference between a ball valve and a gate valve?

A ball valve turns a ball to open or close the line, and a gate valve lifts a gate out of the flow. Our ball valve and gate valve guides cover the choices.

Do you list valves in different materials?

Yes. Brass, bronze, stainless steel, cast iron, cast steel, forged steel, ductile iron, PVC, UPVC and GRPP valves are listed. Check the title for the body material and end connection.

Do you list lockout valves?

Yes. Lockable ball valves and Dixon Minsup, Econovalve and Surelock lockout valves are listed. See our valve lockout collection.

Can I get a quote for a larger order?

Yes. Request a quote or call us on (02) 9773 0122 with the part numbers you need and we'll check what we can supply.
