This AAP general purpose brass gate valve has a brass body, bonnet, wedge and stem, a ductile iron handwheel and female ISO 228 threads. It is supplied in 9 sizes from 1/2 in (15 mm) to 4 in (100 mm).
A wedge gate valve moves a wedge-shaped gate between two body seats using a spindle, so when it is fully open the fluid has a straight, uninterrupted passage with very little pressure drop. AAP says it is not recommended for flow regulation and should only be used fully open or fully closed.
AAP gives a maximum working temperature of 180 degrees C and a cold working pressure of 1,600 kPa (16 bar), with an ISO 228 thread (manufacturer-stated). ISO 228 is a parallel pipe thread, so match it to your pipework. AAP does not list applications or a drinking water approval for this valve, so use a dezincification resistant (DR) valve on drinking water supply.

Selecting the right option
Choose the size to match your pipe thread. Use the valve fully open or fully closed rather than to throttle flow. AAP also lists a bronze screwed gate valve and a brass flanged gate valve. For drinking water, use a DR brass valve with the right approval.
