1/2 in (15 mm) Bronze Globe Valve, SS Trim | VBGL15SS

This AAP bronze globe valve with stainless steel trim has a bronze body, bonnet and bonnet nut, a 316 stainless steel disc, seat trim and stem, and female threaded ends. It is supplied in 6 sizes from 1/2 in (15 mm) to 2 in (50 mm).

A globe valve regulates flow with a movable disc that closes down onto a stationary ring seat inside a roughly spherical body. The stem screws the disc onto the seat, so the valve gives fine control of flow, and AAP says globe valves are typically used where throttling and frequent operation are needed. Flow turns through the body, so a globe valve has a higher pressure drop than a gate valve of the same size. Confirm the flow direction with AIMS before you install it.

AAP gives a maximum working temperature of 260 degrees C and a cold working pressure of 4,000 kPa (40 bar), with a thread to AS 1722.1, and lists the valve for normal steam conditions up to saturation temperature (all manufacturer-stated). The pressure figure is the cold working pressure, so the allowable pressure falls as the temperature rises. Ask AIMS for the pressure and temperature rating if the valve will run hot.

The disc, seat trim and stem are 316 stainless steel, the gland is DR brass, the handwheel is ductile iron and the packing is Graphoil.
