Beaver Grade 80 clevis shortening clutches suit 10 mm to 13 mm Grade 80 chain, with working load limits (WLL) of 3,200 kg (3.2 t) to 5,400 kg (5.4 t). Beaver states that a shortening clutch lets you shorten a chain sling without reducing its WLL (the manual marks it "No Deration"), and that the clevis pin connects directly to the chain without a connecting link.

Selecting the right option

Choose the size by the WLL and the chain size it must match, and make sure every part of the assembly (chain, link, hook and lifting point) is Grade 80 and rated for the load. The WLL applies to the clutch used as Beaver intends in a Grade 80 chain sling; do not exceed the WLL of the chain. Lifting equipment must be used within its marked working load limit (WLL), inspected before each use, and selected and used in line with your site lifting procedure and the relevant Australian Standards.
